The idea of the long car journey up to Edinburgh on Wednesday night doesn't appeal, especially with a giant rubiks cube, victorian crinolines, tutus, fans made of various materials, two boxes of glitter, a confetti cannon, shitloads of bags and Killian in the car screaming abuse at other drivers.

That said, after two minor nervous breakdowns (!) when faced with the sheer volume of work associated with running 22 mixed bill gigs in one month, as well as maintaining a full time job, writing commitments, gigging and programming other gigs taking place beyond the fringe, I am really looking forward to finally getting to Edinburgh, getting into the flat and going to see a late show.

With the costume maker still looking for replacement fabrics, a floor covering needed for me to throw a shitload of glitter about on every night and more tickets needed to be allocated the edfringe site, there's still work to do, but nothing insurmountable.

Most of the adverts get published next week. Fück knows how effective they'll be at getting arses on seats. It may well be the case that it's money that's been pissed up the wall, but worth a shot. Had a long interview with The Skinny the other week for either that or their cabaret version, The Shimmy. Be interesting to read, especially considering some of the weird shït I say on a daily basis.

Just confirmed some great acts like Mister Joe Black, Honey Wilde, Ava Vidal, Andrew Bird....loads more. I'm really pleased with the line ups so far. Honey Wilde has an act where she dresses up as Thatcher! It's just fantastic! She's literally “Iron Lady of Burlesque.”

In the first few days I'm going to see Greg Davies, Penny Dreadfuls, Pappys and Tim Vine so far. Also looking forward to stumbling across the posters for potentially great dance and theatre shows that I haven't yet discovered from my quick read of the brochure.

The oddest prospect is that I might actually sleep more than five hours a night when i get there. At the moment, and for the past few years really, I've not had the luxury of a normal sleeping pattern, so it'll be worth all the hard work, months of planning and nogotiation and the horrifying prospect of low audience numbers just to have more sleep. That and I'll be taking up plenty of Zloska Gorszka to keep warm in the rain and cold.
:P

BraHaHa listed in Top 10 Cabaret shows to see at the Fringe
http://www.theskinny.co.uk/article/1000 ... ge-cabaret

First show we had 85 in apparently at the last count, but someone mentioned 100, so really pleased with that.
Really thankful to all involved last night and pulled it together after a day of utter hell.

Roll on tonight - special 2 for 1 deal for Sunday 8th August on top price tickets via the zoo box office - give the codeword "kitty" on 0131 662 6892.

Line up for tonight, 8th August:

MC Mick Ferry (as seen on McIntyre's Comedy Roadshow, ‘One of the best comperes in the country’ Manchester Evening News)

International burlesque starlet, Vendetta Vain (‘Gorgeous, playful burlesque’ Fringereview...com)

Honey Wilde (Named as one of the ‘Dynamite Acts Set To Explode In 2010’ Bizarre)

Chris Ramsey (‘Sharp and quick-tongued’ The Stage)

Tom Allen (So You Think You're Funny and BBC New Comedy Award Winner)

with hilarious physical theatre from Jonno Katz ('Both Brechtian and pant-wettingly hilarious' Toronto ***** )

It's gonna be great I think :D

I've no idea what day it is. I barely eat. I don't sleep. I heard cats. I love vodka.

Great show last night with a fabulous line up. I'll post up pictures and whatever when I get 2 minutes to myself....which hasn't happened since i got here weeks ago.

A big thank you to all the acts that have done the show so far. I love them all.

As someone who's setting back feminism by 100 years, I'm really proud of my show. Ta

Yeah, it's going well. By the end of the fringe, I estimate that more and more women will be back in the kitchen and do as they're told. Just not me....sadly

Yesterday....

went to see Neil Hamburger....some lovely stuff, but the phlegm did turn my stomach a bit.

Bumped into Lee Martin. Rambled at him for a bit through exhaustion.

Bumped into Chris Stokes. Teased him a bit then felt awful.

Bumped into a lot more people who are tired and want to go home now. Final stretch.

Wrote a piece for a magazine about the burlesque backlash by The Scotsman.

Managed to not eat chips.

Really wanted to see Dark Side of the Poon but it was pulled yesterday, goddamit!

Filmed an interview the day before then panicked about whether or not my hair looked ok in the footage.

Met some brilliant acts here.

Now having a cappucino. Going to see this today:

http://www.piffthemagicdragon.com/dates.html

He's brilliant.

Awards wise, I reckon some of the nominees will be Dr Brown, Loretta Maine, Greg Davies
Ramsey and of course, some guy called Tapeface? He seems to be doing quite well.

Loving Ava Vidal's facebook updates. Genuinely hilarious. Love her.

My flat looks like a drag queen exploded in here.

I'm keeping Lou Conran forever. She's a brilliant MC. Book her for everything....well, maybe not clean gigs and christenings.

Fosters shortlist:

http://www.chortle.co.uk/news/2010/08/25/11607/fosters_shortlst_out

Nice list that

Well done to Tapeface, Sarah, Josie....all in fact. Big 'fumbs' up

I genuinely think Greg's show is one of the best things I've ever seen.

Going to see Asher tonight

Another nice press quote:

'Kitty Cointreau unarguably owns the evening with her flawless burlesque. Her “Victorian Va Va Voom” routine is a fine example of how the burlesque format can amaze audiences with very little (in this case, an umbrella, confetti, period dress and sinuous, languid moves).'
Erotic Review

BOOM

Tried getting tickets to see Ian D Montfort......sold out.

Had a great time out the other night drinking with Peter Vincent, his lovely new lady, Barry, Kathryn and my HERO - Duncan Oakley. Nice to see the Gag Reflex team celebrating too in the Gilded Balloon.

Done my neck in - couldn't move my head last night. Great stuff. That was a lovely gig!

Worked with international burlesque star Missy Malone the past four night....what a gem. She's lovely.

Everyone I bump into is knackered and ready to go home. me included. Met some great people, bookers and lovely burlesque fans, now need my Sky tv, guinea pigs and all my books around me.

Here's the line ups for the last few shows:

Kitty Cointreau’s BraHaHa

Friday 27th August

Joining Kitty tonight:

MC Mick Ferry (as seen on ‘McIntyre's Comedy Roadshow,’ ‘One of the best comperes in the country’ Manchester Evening News)

Award-winning international burlesque star – DAIQUIRI DUSK!

Vendetta Vain (‘Gorgeous, playful burlesque’ Fringe Review)

Patrick Monahan ('One of the top 10 must see acts in 2010' Sun, 'Excellent' Times, 'Terrifically endearing' Time Out)

Award-winning magic stand up from Piff the Magic Dragon and Mr Piffles! (‘cute, inspired and very funny’ Time Out, ‘unbelievable’ BBC)

Tickets from the box office!

Kitty Cointreau’s BraHaHa

28th and 29th August!

Featuring:

MC Wil Hodgson (as seen on BBC’s ‘Russell Howard’s Good News’)

Vendetta Vain (‘Gorgeous, playful burlesque’ Fringe Review)

Award-winning magic stand up from Piff the Magic Dragon and Mr Piffles! (‘cute, inspired and very funny’ Time Out, ‘unbelievable’ BBC)

Musical cabaret from Pistol & Jack! (‘Sublime talent, humour and intelligence’ Fringe Report)

Hula Hoop artiste, Pippa the Ripper! (as seen on Britain’s Got Talent!)

Tickets from the box office!

Anyone who's up and wants to see it - drop me a text or a PM - happy to comp people. :D Because I'm nice like that.
